Wow! I was super surprised to see that this place has only 3 1/2 stars, because I actually really enjoyed the food here! I came here today to try it out with my cousin and sister, and was super ecstatic because many people have recommended this place. First impression Super cute inside! The actual restaurant is in a plaza with many other popular food places! There's a long strip of parking, as well as a parking garage. I would definitely recommended coming out early, the parking spots fill up really fast! Service The servers/workers were so nice! They accommodated to us very well especially since we kept asking for stuff! I would definitely give them a 10/10 for service!Food I actually really enjoyed this! I got the Beef Pepper Rice and my sister got the Kimchi Beef Pepper Rice! I will tell you, it taste exactly how it sounds beef, pepper and rice! But honestly, it was so good to have a meal that stayed hot! Also, you can add sriracha and other sauces pro tip ask for the other sauces such as the garlic sauce and the sweet sauce to pour on top at your table!. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal with the sauces and definitely will be coming back! They have a deal for Two pepper lunches for $20! Please please please take advantage of this and try this delicious places! It comes with 2 drinks, a miso soup and a side! You really can't beat that deal.
One would think it's hard to hack Pepper Lunch's Beef Pepper Rice, but it surprisingly isn't. Contrary to popular belief, the secret isn't in the butter—it's in the beef itself. Good quality, well-prepared beef gives this dish a stellar spot on Filipino's most sought-after lunch meals on their list. One does not simply stake their reputation on a sizzling plate of beef. But for Pepper Lunch's Beef Pepper Rice, we will. Besides having it better and bigger, you won’t have to smell like a lunchtime promo after you’ve had your mid-day Sauce1 tbsp cooking oil2 tbsp chopped onions1 tsp minced garlic¼ cup honey2 tbsp Kikkoman soy sauce⅛ tsp iodized salt¼ cup slurry 1 tsp cornstarch + ¼ cup waterGarlic Soy Sauce¼ cup Kikkoman soy sauce¼ cup regular soy sauce4 large garlic cloves, crushed2 tsp sugar½ cup slurry 1 tsp cornstarch + ½ cup waterBeef400g short plate cut beef, thinly sliced3 cups cooked Japanese rice¼ cup canned corn½ tsp freshly crushed pepper2 tsp cooking oil2 tbsp butter2 tbsp chopped spring onionsMake the honey sauce Mix together all ingredients in a sauce pan and boil for 3-5 minutes or until garlic and onions are soft. Puree in blender and transfer to sauce the garlic sauce mix the two soy sauces together in a sauce raw garlic in the soy sauce for 30 in the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Turn off fire immediately. Puree in blender and transfer to sauce making the beef, make sure it's completely cast-iron skillet on high flame until it half of the steamed rice while still hot in the middle. Turn off skillet is still on the stove, turn off fire and scatter beef around the with 1 tbsp of salted butter—this will instantly melt into the with half the corn, half the pepper, and half the spring onions. Serve immediately with the two sauces on the the same procedure for the second can make this recipe in a regular pan. Cook everything in it as you would in the cast-iron skillet. You just won't have the same charred effect, but it's no big deal!
Beef Pepper Rice is dish of thinly sliced beef served on hot plate with rice and corn complemented by Amakuchi a type of Honey Soy Sauce and Karakuchi a type of Garlic Soy SauceThis dish became popular in the Philippine probably 3 years ago and all I can do is drool over the photos I saw online as we don’t have Pepper Lunch here in New Zealand, since then I wanted to try them and the only way to do it is by making it on my own. After reading several reviews of the dish from different You Tube channels and blogs, I think I have enough information to recreate it at home, so I starting what and who is Pepper Lunch? Pepper Lunch was created in 1994 by chef and inventor Kunio Ichinose in the search for serving quality fast food without hiring a chef. He then thought of simply not cooking the beef and serve it on hot plates using an electromagnetic cooker heating the plates at 260C, the diners eventually will be their own cooks. A simple thinly sliced beef with rice will not be complete with condiments as it will be tasteless hence it is served with an Amakuchi honey soy sauce and/or Karakuchi garlic soy sauce. When I first saw this, I thought of Yoshinoya another Japanese creation that serves thinly sliced beef with rice but instead of chefs preparing your dish you are served with raw beef and it’s up to you how you season or cook them to your most households will have hard time making this at home, not because of the ingredients but with the use of hot plates———, plus it will be cumbersome to prepare in multiple hot plates on multiple burners, it would be easy to prepare them in one pan if you don’t have the facility so the recipe I made will not require them, all you need is one heavy pan and hungry diners.
